Prisoners Right to Vote

Prisoners Right to Vote

in the 2016 elections it was said that six million people were not allowed to vote due to being incarcerated I wanted to just find like a size comparison so I did a quick google search and found that Nevada has three million people populating its state so just imagine two Nevada's for the people that just were not allowed to vote because they were in jail I think if they would have had the right to vote they could have maybe changed some of the results we could have had maybe a different president you know some different laws different regulations being passed who knows but speaking of laws who you know we have our Constitution with it 27 amendments and within one of these amendments the 15th amendment to be exact it states that the US should not deny the rights of any US citizen due to their race or color but as we know minorities are the ones that make up most of the people in jails or prisons or what so be it and my opinion I think that's kind of not following the Fifteenth Amendment because we know people of color are being racially profiled and being thrown in jail we have incidences where a white man who was caught on tape sexually assaulting a girl went to jail for six months compared to black men who are found with an eighth of weed that go to jail for years the white men get out faster or just you know the white men don't get in trouble at all so these men are being cut of their rights because of color and that's just not right that's the whole different topic but yeah African Americans are five times more likely to go to jail then white men so they're the ones being kind of they're voting rights I think prisoners should also be able to vote because their voices aren't heard we know that prisons are overpopulated we know that prisons abuse the prisoners but do people really care about it not really because they're not the ones living it they're not the ones in these institutions going through it so I mean they're not really gonna pay attention to it they're not really gonna fight for it who would if I've heard it the prisoners in these said jails and prisons which is why they should have a voice which is why we should let them vote so they can fight for what they think is right and yes some people may say well you know prisoners are in jail for a reason they don't have the logic to think and vote for someone but in Puerto Rico they compared well prisoners in Puerto Rico can vote so they compared the vote of the prisoners to the votes of the norm you know the people that are free and they were basically the same so that is as Trump would say fake news and not correct so in my opinion I think that prisoners should have the right to vote when they are incarcerated they need to be heard they are you as citizens just like us and should have the right to vote because I mean that's what people have been fighting for like this whole time women's suffrage all of that are you assistance just like us and they could probably change the results as well thank you
