  1. TBH research had wrong implications in it. You cannot judge reseults purely by average, because it skews too much to border values. For example, just by a pure random chance, there was a guy who said "2 billions!" in the other group and that changed the average by a lot. There are more usefull types of classification. Is there a data from that research avalaible? (like *.csv or sth)

  2. have been 1st pick as po3 or po4 for a long time. I would rather let enemies counter me than to 1 or 2

  4. So we (the 5 players of the team) wait until we lose all the gold and get an abandon ? Nice great tips topkek

  5. I first pick Riki and tell my team to counter pick because they are likely to counter pick me because Riki is so easy to counter pick. I create space before the game even starts.

  6. my usual games are im last pick safelane carry …. and supports go to top and im go solo safelane

  8. I love how you explain dota with psychological approach! perhaps very few may actually take this into account but for me this is brilliant and as a new player on dota, i really appreciate this man. Good work!

  10. Its fun to hear how people think positive attitude towards allied people gives u more chance to succeed.Throughout my 500-600 games at around 4.7k mmr (all done as support) i've had 5+ occasions in each of people deliberately being late with reactions to my ganks on enemies thus failing the whole process after me clearly and freindlily saying on voice com pinging on the enemy hero and "alt" clicking on the ability i'll use to set up the gank.Friendly and positive attutude do not change the outcome of any situation in this game.If the person u try to gank for doesnt want to or just is bad enough to not even try to cast anything no amount of positive thinking will "pause the game, let u go to his house, press the abilities needed to get the kill and be done with the gank"…

  11. say somnthing possitive ,, hey guys techies is my most played hero mid and offlane are my best lanes we got this,, after game has 5reports and 4 commends and low priority cause enemys report you for playing good

  12. "never first pick"

Brain…Scrambling. Atoms…… slipping out of spacetime.
    asdadadasdafhfhsghrth/??

    first picks antimage.
    afk's at 1st blood 2 minutes in.
everybody on the team erases from existence.
    game over.

  13. the best advice i can give is: "never criticize your team, SPECIALLY if it's just out of spite.". they don't want to hear it and saying it will only further ruin team morale. everyone, including you, will start playing worse. if you don't have something good to say, just keep it to yourself. be forgiving too, specially if people apologize.

just now i had a dumb batrider in my team crying "no support" because he got gangraped in their jungle late in the game (the supports were awesome btw, both of them). i told the supports: "don't worry guys, you played well. i'm commending both of you". then i said "as for you batrider. you also played well. but i'm reporting you because you're a fucking douche".

i couldn't believe the effect those two sentences had. he immediately lightened up when he read me saying that (he did play well before he started being an idiot mid-game). batrider was borderline griefing at that point and after hearing me say that he started giving his all again. we managed to extend the game for a further half hour, almost win it like 4 times (damn i hate techies. we wiped the floor with them in every teamfight though, it was awesome), and have an overall great game, despite losing in the end. he also started being fake-nice so he doesn't get reported (of course i still reported him. he was a douche for no reason after all, and i'm not nearly that quick to forgive)

  14. So all in all, only supports should first pick. And the most "shit" the support is considered, the less chances are you get countered.

Someone has to pick first anyways.

Then again on MMR, you can add a 10% chance that the hero you wanted banned got banned.

At the same time that also creates a 10% that both teams will pick heroes that normally get countered by the banned hero.

For example, someone bans Earthshaker, that creates a 10% chance that illusion heroes are going to be picked.

Someone bans antimage, and a 10% chance for heroes with mana pools opens.

I feel its more than just the first pick, but also what was banned.

Many games are set up on the bans they set up.

For example, if someone bans Legion Commander, you know that whoever banned it, probably had a game ruined by an LC in jungle. So banning that hero, means the chances of jungling are reduced to other heroes. Then again you consider the map changes and you can limit the possible jungles to a very small set of heroes.

While i agree the Anchoring affects the first pick. The effect is even more noticable in MMR.

As whatever hero gets banned, sets up which possible heroes are picked.

  15. If you guys are interested in the psychological effect in gaming, as well as flaming, trolling, smack talking in general. I highly recommenced "Margaret Heffernan: Why it's time to forget the pecking order at work." While it is aimed at businesses you can get a good aspect of information on the subject of psychology in performance.

  16. What you are describing in regards to Dota is not reeeaaaally the anchoring effect. Your advice sounds good tho.

    Best regards
A psychologist-in-around-three-months who wrote his BA on the anchoring effect.

  17. The most retarded advice I've ever heard for DOTA2. Really, U cant possibly say something worse. Why? If you were talking as a coach to A SINGLE player at centain position, it could be good but… Ur actually saying that to ALL AND ANY player. Same as saying, to any player, "dont you ever play support", "dont you ever place wards" o shit like that. Worse.advice.ever. Hope people is less retarded than this kind of advice, so they wont start fucking up games…

  18. Teach me more please! I would love to play with you bro! Thank you for the great tips u made me a positive person in playing dota in the past I was just like "gg end noob team" and now I'm like "we can do this team let's win this one"
