Microsoft Patch Tuesday | Monthly Security Update

Microsoft Patch Tuesday | Monthly Security Update

Hello today I’ll be showing you how you can
get a list of all the windows computers in your network and their patch status regarding
the Microsoft Windows Patch Tuesday. Now as you might know Microsoft releases on the
second Tuesday of the month, kind of a big patch that fixes so usually some type of vulnerabilities
or other issues that you might have. Now it is obviously important to keep your windows machines up to date and that’s where lansweeper comes in. As you can see here we have a list of all
the different machines on our network and also whether they have been updated to the
latest patch Tuesday patch or not. So in this report here will see that on the left
side we have our names of our windows computers together with their domains, the state, the
patch status, whether it’s a workstation or server, the username of the user that was last
logged in. Also their user domain and the IP address of the machine, the location of
the machine, the IP location , manufacturer, model operating system whether it has a service
pack or not for windows 10 and for some servers as well the version of windows
that it’s on or to build number and then we have some additional information at the end there.
Now what is important here as we can easily filter this report so if you just
want to get a list of all the machines that have already been updated you simply go to
patch status and filter on up to date or just type in up and the report of filter itself
and you get to see a list of all the machines that you have already updated. Now obviously you can do this the other way around as well or if you want a list of just all the workstations similar
thing there you can just type in work and It will fill in the rest so there you go: a list of all
the workstations and you’ll be able to see which ones have you updated already which
one still need an update and so on. So how do you get this information? It’s very easy all you
have to do is grab Lansweeper, install it and let it run an IP range scan or do an active directory
scan. Once that’s finished scanning your network you’ll be presented with the dashboard to
give you an overview of all the information that has been scanned. Next up we’ll take a
look here at some of the information that has been retrieved. As you can see here will have a
list of all the different types of devices that Lansweeper has retrieved, now we’ll head
over to windows here. We get a list of all the windows machines that have been scanned
on a network. Now how do we get the patch status from this? All we have to do is navigate
to our reports where we we search for our patch report, as you can see here we have
the patch tuesday report which is the one that we started on earlier. As you can see
a list of all the devices and their patch status red is obviously the ones that haven’t been
updated yet, and when we scroll down we can find a few green ones here these are the ones that
have been updated to the most recent patch. This report is not standard built in that’s
because these patches are released every month so what we do is we provide you with a report
every month that you’ll be able to grab from our website or you can sign up for the newsletter
and get the report in your inbox as well. All you have to do then is copy and paste it over to your Lansweeper installation and run it as we’ve shown here. Not just to give you an example of
what that would look like. All you have to do is head over to reports you create a new
report. Once you’re in report builder remove the default report. And then paste in the
report that you’ve received either in your inbox or that you’ve got from the website. Then
once it has finished loading the report all you have to do is make sure you give it a
name. We’ll name it patch Tuesday for April and we’ll hit save and run. Once it has
finished loading we’re back here in the report that we started that as you can see again
the list of all the machines and their update status. If we head over to reports we’ll take
a look at the patch reports so we’ll see that we both have the patch report for March and
now also for April. If you want this report feel free to take a look at our website and
download it from there or sign up for our newsletter and you’ll receive it in your inbox
as well. This is just the very beginning of what Lansweeper is capable of. There’s
much more to see, so if you’re interested just head over to Lansweeper and start your
free trial and try it out yourself. Thank you for watching and if you want to learn
