Manager’s Update: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Hi I’m Town Manager Patrick Banger In this week’s Manager’s Update I’m here with Vice Mayor Eddie Cook to talk about Domestic Violence Awareness Month Eddie can you tell us why this is an area of specific focus for the Town of Gilbert Thank you Patrick, the town council a few years back, initiated a needs assessment here in our
community on what services local government doesn’t provide and from the results of that needs assessment families in crisis was the number one need At the top of that list was domestic violence so here in the Town of Gilbert we
have initiated a program called Endeavor The acronym is ENDVR which stands for
ending domestic violence responsibly It is a program focused on trying to heal and make the families whole through our criminal justice process and it’s gone fantastic Wonderful, and Eddie I know the governor’s got a proclamation coming out and we’ve got some additional resources Can you tell us a little bit about that? Yes the governor makes a proclamation starting on October 1st And asks all the communities to light their communities purple In the month of October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month And then we also have our wonderful data portal that will have a lot of information related about how domestic violence is happening in Gilbert Okay, wonderful thank you so much
Eddie if you’d like to learn more about what resources the town has available or
to visit Alex our open data portal you can click on the link below the screen
and as always thank you for watching
