this is the LexisNexis video tutorial finding news by state the best way to search for news by state is through the all new search form click the search by content type menu and then all news since we're searching for a specific state we'll click on the Advanced Options option as on all search forms the Advanced Options section has been customized to fit the content type check out the article locations section to narrow by region like US state Canadian province country or world region the location area will repopulate depending on your selection select a Canadian province the Canadian provinces show up here I'm going to stick with US states if you select a state like Florida and it apply your search will return news articles about the state of Florida which is great if you're searching for news about Florida however the news articles won't necessarily be from the state of Florida meaning published by a Florida newspaper a good way to run a search that will bring back Florida newspapers is to use the publication segments in the build your own segment search section select publication and type in Florida and I'm also going to select all news so that we get various Florida publication and click apply so currently this search will find articles about the state of Florida from publications in the state of Florida I can also enter a search term like Gulf oil spill to find articles about a specific topic and then I'll click the search button and here you'll see a great results list of Florida news thanks for using LexisNexis academic
