this comes as more migrants are risking their lives trying to cross the Rio Grande tonight we're hearing from a journalist who took this photo of a father and daughter found drowned in the river this image which we've chosen to blur shows the 23 month-old girl still clinging to her father Eyewitness News reporter addy guajardo joins us from Brownsville near where the bodies were found the Mexican journalist tells us the search for the father and daughter began Sunday night but it wasn't until Monday morning they discovered their bodies on the banks of the Rio Grande he says it's a picture that tells a tragic story the lifeless bodies of a family torn apart shed light on a dangerous gamble a father took to reach the land of the free Oscar Alberto Martinez from El Salvador and his daughter drowned while attempting to cross the Rio Grande across from Brownsville but I'm Bonita Huckle a seasoned journalist says drownings in the Rio Grande are common it was different because it wasn't just an adult it was a little girl a death that hit close to home as he captured an image shared worldwide that sparked outrage once I looked at the pictures it hit me I got emotional because I'm also a father he says the wife and mother was distraught when the bodies of her husband and little girl were found too emotional for questions asking for privacy it was a really sad moment it's a risk he says migrants consider as asylum case wait times grow the wait time can vary up to three to four months so there's a lot of desperation because they don't have the resources to care for themselves he says the chilling photo paints the reality now sparking hesitation among migrants immigrants in Matamoros say after seeing the pictures there was willing to take the risk of crossing illegally he knew that hakama says it's more than a picture captured on his camera it's a memory he'll never forget Debora
