HIS WIFE AND YOUNG DAUGHTER WITNESSED THE SHOOTING. THEY WERE NOT HURT. A DISTURBING STORY OUT OF VANDERGRIFT AFTER POLICE SAY THAT A WOMAN LEFT BEHIND TWO OF HER DOGS IN A VACANT HOME. AN ALERT NEIGHBOR TOLD KDKA THAT SHE SAW ONE OF THE DOGS FALL FROM A 2-STORY WINDOW AND THEN SHE CALLED 911. TONIGHT JENNIFER WAS LIVE AT THE SHELTER WHERE THE DOGS ARE RECOVERING. POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING, CHARGES ARE PENDING. POLICE SAY HEIDI SURRENDERED HER TWO DOGS OVER TO THIS TINY RESCUE. POLICE SAY SHE DUMPED HER DOGS IN AN ABANDONED HOUSE NEXT TO WHERE SHE LIVES LEAVING THEM FOR DAYS WITHOUT FOOD OR WATER. THE PICTURES ARE HARD TO LOOK AT. TWO PIT TERRIER MIXES SCARED AND LEFT TO DIE IN THIS ABANDONED HOME IN THE 500 BLOCK. THE CONDITION OF THE DOGS FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS, THEY HAD TO BE THERE FOR A WHILE. NOT BEING FED OR WATER PROPERLY. THE NEIGHBOR TOLD KDKA OVER TEXT MESSAGE SHE WAS WALKING HER DOG ON EMERSON STREET SUNDAY WHEN SHE HEARD A WAILING AND A DOG CRYING. SHE LOOKED UP AND SAW SADIE HALF WAY OUT THE WINDOW AND THEN LANDED INTO A PILE OF DEBRIS. SHE CALLED 911. VANDERGRIFT POLICE ARRIVED. THEY FOUND SADIE AND ANOTHER DOG ROCKY LIVING IN DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS. BAR BADGE GARBAGE EVERYWHERE. THEY WERE NOT CARED FOR. THERE WAS URINE, THERE WAS FECES. POLICE FOUND THE DOG’S OWNER. SHE AGREED TO SURRENDER THE DOGS SAYING SHE COULDN’T AFFORD TO CARE FOR THEM ANYMORE. HEIDI, I’M JIM. WE TRIED TO GET HER SIZE OF THE STORY BUT SHE DIDN’T WANT TO TALK. ADAM DEFENDED HIS FRIEND BUT IS CONFUSED. SAD. BREAKS MY HEART TO KNOW THAT THE DOGS ARE EVEN LIKE THAT AND HEIDI AND THEM ARE REALLY GOOD PEOPLE BUT TO BE HONEST — I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY COULD EVEN LET THEIR ANIMALS GET LIKE THAT. AS FOR THE DOGS THEY WILL BE UP FOR ADOPTION EVENTUALLY. AND THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER WILL DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO FILE ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES MISDEMEANORS. THESE TWO GUYS AND THIS GIRL, THEY WILL GO TO THE VET TOMORROW AND ONCE THEY ARE HEALTHY AGAIN,
