Jack Carr on His Latest Novel True Believer

– True Believer is
a story of redemption and it’s a geopolitical thriller that has a basis in something that happened to
me in Iraq in 2006 that I fictionalized to
make a lot more interesting. The first novel, The Terminal
List, took place really in the continental
United States, so this second novel
goes international with that geopolitical
backdrop of a journey first to get to that
location, to Mozambique, and then to an undisclosed
location in northern Africa and then on into
Turkey and the Ukraine. This is a story about
somebody that has to learn to live again because he
finds out that he’s not dying and a person that he worked
with in Iraq is now involved in international
terrorism to move markets in order to build
up, essentially, a
war chest of money for someone that
wants to move back into a position of
power in Russia. So a little different
than the first one but I’m super excited about it. (dramatic music)
