INSURANCE BITES: BREAKING NEWS (Mobile Phones)

This episode is brought to you by The Financial
Services School, specialising in educating insurance professionals. BREAKING NEWS! A
number of insurers are beginning to incorporate new exclusions in their motor policies…
and we wanted you to be the first to know about it. Being distracted while driving can
never be a good thing but in this modern age, mobile phones seem to be the main culprit.
We’ve all heard about the worst case scenario… and the loss of points… and the whopping
great fine. But what we often don’t hear about is what else could happen if you’re on the
phone whilst driving. Take this scenario, you’re driving and your phone lights up…
and you notice an email from an important client or a notification from facebook because
your “bestie” just took a “dope selfie.” You begin to type out a quick response and just
as you hit send… you also hit that Mercedes in front of you. Luckily no one is hurt…
well… except for the cars… and you have full comprehensive insurance so everything
will be just fine… or will it? Some insurance policies are beginning to include an exclusion
for using a device whilst driving and that exclusion could render your insurance policy
null and void. So that leaves you to pay for the damage out of your own pocket. This could
be financially crippling and change your life all for one silly comment. So please, leave
your phone alone whilst driving… it could end up costing you a lot more than just a
fine. Click here to see another video we did, give us a thumbs up if you found this helpful,
