How to Write an Amazing Hook for Your Novel

How to Write an Amazing Hook for Your Novel

All books need a good
“Hook” to sell more copies and that’s particularly
true for fiction. So if you write fiction and
you wanna write a good hook, a good first line of
your description, a good piece of ad copy,
what do you do? How do you know that it’s good? Well, first and foremost I
think you need to keep in mind that every hook must fit with one of three key subject matters. It needs to be about death,
love, or enlightenment. Will your main character
potentially die? Will your two love
interests actually find love if it’s more on the
literary fiction, or narrative non fiction side? Will your character
find their inner peace? It’s gotta be about death,
love, or enlightenment and if you make sure that
your hook for your novel at least touches on one
of those three things, at least goes as epic
as it possibly can be, then you are going to
have a lot more success with your hook than
if you try to make it about some other random
bit of your book. It needs to be the most
heightened, exciting, interesting, conflict that’s in your book. That needs to be fleshed
out in the hook and so that is how you’re
gonna get people excited. That is how you’re going to
get potential new readers or someone who sees and
add to buy your book. You need a hook about death,
love, or enlightenment. I hope you found that helpful.
