DS9Doc November Update

DS9Doc November Update

(Beeping) Hi there, I’m Kai de Mello-Folsom and today’s ‘What We Left Behind’ video update is all about our early backer premieres. They started last month in Los Angeles, then went to New York City, and finally we ended in the U.K. But rather than have me tell you about them, we thought it would be best to find an actual Indiegogo backer who could give you their impression of the film and tell you about the events themselves and where better to find one of those then HERE at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. I’m sure we can find… … a backer around here somewhere, right? Over here, let’s uh, try this woman… Ah, hi there, ma’am? Ma’am, did you see ‘What We Left Behind’ last month– I guess she is NOT a backer! Um… Oh! Excuse me… excuse me? Hi! Did you happen to see ‘What We Left Behind’ at the Paramount screening last month? No! Oh… You did not… Sorry, does that mean…? … it does. Sorry! Over here. Sir! Uh, come on over here, there’s another guy– ‘Scuse me, sir! Sir… Deep Space Nine…? Really? That’s uh… That’s a little rude! We’ll, uh… find… Sir, I don’t suppose YOU saw ‘What We Left Behind’ last month– Well, as a matter of fact, I DID, I– I didn’t think so… ‘Scuse me, sir? What can I do for you? Hang on a second– — did you say you DID see the film? Yeah, yeah, I DID see it. I saw it right here at Paramount Studios, the home of Star Trek! It was an amazing documentary at the Paramount Theater. What is your name, sir? My name’s Aaron. Aaron — See? One of our supporters. We found him here at Paramount. Indiegogo! Aaron, tell me about the night… It was a BEAUTIFUL night. Red carpet arrival, I got a photo on a red carpet for the first time in my life. My family is going to flip, I tell you. It was an amazing night. They had FREE popcorn! Oh! You gotta love these studios, you know? They’re just hemorrhaging money, but they give away popcorn… Who was there? Who was there… Nana Visitor, René Auberjonois, Cirroc Lofton, Nicole deBoer, Marc Alaimo, Jeffrey Combs, Aaron Eisenberg, behind-the-scenes people including Hans Beimler Ira Steven Behr, the Okudas! Herman Zimmerman, production designer was there. And CHECK THIS OUT… They have HD footage of Deep Space Nine. It has not been done before, and you know what? I want more… I WANT MORE. And on top of all of that, at the end of the night, all of the principal cast members that were there, all of the behind-the-scenes people, gathered onstage for a once-in-a-lifetime group photo. It was amazing, and I was there. Thank you, Aaron. Well, you heard it here, folks. The Deep Space Nine Documentary – a success in L.A., we hope it was just as big a success in New York and Birmingham… We’re working hard to get it to your screens so for those of you who have not seen it yet, we are working on that HD! We’re working on that HD that Aaron wants to see so badly. (HD, we WANT it!) And we’ll be giving you updates soon on when and how you can see the film, so stay tuned.

  1. Today is Thanksgiving, and I can say I am thankful that DS9 exists and that this documentary is being made. I cant wait to see it!

  2. You can't go back to the Enterprise D, you really can't go back to the original Enterprise (though Discovery is trying, LOL), you can't go back to Voyager, but you could go back to DS9. Sure it would be a new crew, a new cast (mostly), but it could be done. Nothing in the story would stop it.

  3. I love Aaron. Cirroc Lofton's looking good, he looks a lot like his on-screen dad now!

The release is still gonna be in 2018, right?

  4. I've placed my pre order for the bluray, I wish I could've backed the project earlier but I hope that helps and I can't wait to see it!

BRING BACK DS9 (the best trek)

  5. Please, come see Perú fans! we miss star trek ds9 too 🖖🏻 PD: Ira Steven, I know you’re reading this 😂😂

  6. DS9 in HD?! I CAN NOT WAIT.
This is going to be epic!
I hope there are (Odo) bucket loads of extras on the Bluray as well as the full Season 8 writers room discussion maybe as an online bonus for those of us who backed the project.

  7. Having a streamable version ASAP would be good. If it's good enough for the premieres, then I'd think it would be good enough for streaming, even if the blu ray release would have all the bells, whistles, and HD footage. I really hope that a wider release, at least on streaming, is possible during the 25th anniversary year.

BTW, is the remastered footage mastered in HD or something greater, like 4K or 8K (even if it's going to be rendered for release in the near term in HD?)

  8. You guys were so amazing in the UK. Thanks for a great Friday and Saturday night and well done to everyone who took part in this amazing Documentary. Can't wait to get my DVD and watch it again
