hello hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome back it's you city skylines and welcome welcome welcome to cities skylines industries I certainly help you having a wonderful day because I'm certainly excited to be jumping back into everybody's favorite city building game I'm not really sure what's going on with the camera here I guess we're trying to follow a car at the edge of the map I'll tell you what we'll not do that and we'll just go ahead and get ourselves started right here first off I do want to mention I am starting with just over $500,000 because we've done 13 other series on this game where we've started with nothing and we've built up to a lot of money and with industries there's a lot to explore and a lot to do and I kind of want to plan a lot of that stuff and I want to have some time to really figure out where everything's going so we're not gonna waste that five hundred thousand we are gonna try and spend it we are gonna try and do as much as we can with it and we are still playing cities skylines we still got a balance out demand we still got to make money because if we don't make money we will waste all of that five hundred thousand I also want to mention I've put maybe an hour into cities skylines industries thus far what that means is that if there has already been a everything new in city skylines industries video that video was actually recorded after however many episodes of this let's play I get done at the time of recording this video I have not put a lot of time into this expansion into this DLC so we're gonna be learning as we go third and finally I'm also using a map theme I don't remember what it's called but I'll try and link it in the description below if you're interested in using it I think it's kind of pretty I think it does some good stuff and also I forgot to mention as well I'm using 81 tiles I have 81 tiles unlocked all for free because again I want to do planning and I want to figure some things out so without any further ado let's just get into it let's just get started let's get let's get building here so I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna bring a road out like this and we're gonna go like this as well and I want to cross over to this side over here I want to go across this across this river here so I'm gonna go to here and I'm gonna bring this back and I want to see if I can manage to get a nice little bend here now that's gonna be a little sharp there so what we'll do is go like that and we'll go like that and that should be pretty good I also want to mention if I uh if my voice is acting up I I'm having some trouble with my throat at the moment I'm having some trouble with the wisdom tooth and basically just I'm not having a good time voice or tooth wise at all it's it's a pretty miserable time to be completely honest eight it's a bit rough but the show must go on as I've said before so the show absolutely will go on now that right there's gonna be our main bridge crossing over to this side of the map this giant island right here which has this lighthouse right up and up the cliff there that's really cool-looking actually we also have this volcano looking thing right here too which is kind of neat as well I don't know if we're really supposed to be able to see that but it's it's there and it's pretty cool-looking so let's go ahead and just continue with this road we'll bring it down to its grande level here and we'll go just a little bit further right there so the reason I'm bringing this across is because there's all sorts of different resources in the ground would get fertile land we get trees over here which is gonna be great for forestry and cities skylines industry is all about well industry it's all about the forests and the the ore and the oil and the fertile land for well you know farming basically so we're gonna want to use all of that and that's part of why I've given myself five hundred thousand dollars to play with because there's a lot to do there is a lot to do there is so much to do anyway let's start figuring out what our city is gonna be no I don't necessarily just want to build a battery I'm sure that a lot of people are wondering if I'm gonna do a battery because we did do a tutorial on the the old battery technique a little while ago and we're gonna I don't I don't just want to do a battery I don't just want to do the same old thing but I do want to do something that's gonna be you know sensible something that's gonna be you know making a bit of sense something that's gonna lead to good things and lead to a good-looking city in the hopefully not too distant future so we're gonna see what we can do in that particular vein I think that's ready to go there that looks about right and this right here I think is where we're gonna try and put like the the city center someday so let's go ahead and break this off a little bit let's go for uh slightly slightly shorter turn there and a slightly shorter turn there and we'll go I think twenty and twenty and you know what I'm gonna do a couple of roundabouts I think I think a couple of roundabouts here could be kind of interesting they don't need to be too huge it's just something a bit like something about like this will absolutely do the job and I think we'll do the same just done here as well and these will hopefully do us a few favors as the city continues to grow and expand throughout of the however many episodes this series ends up having and I guess I should probably address the elephant in the room which is the fact that we didn't actually finish the the park life let's play I all be completely honest with you I've been Oh there's some twitch and twitter so I figure being honest on YouTube kind of makes sense as well I kind of got a little tired to be honest with you I I just I wasn't really enjoying it i I just I'd played a lot of cities up until then I'd had you know a lot yeah a lot of time with a game I'm still obviously got a lot of time with the game but I just needed a break I really I really just needed and I'd wanted a break from the game and I'm feeling pretty refreshed I'm feeling pretty good I'm feeling keen to get back into this and see you know I want to see what this is all about so that's that's what we're doing I'm also wondering if I can get a cheeky little little u-turn in here so something like that I know that's not super efficient but well I don't know I don't know if this is efficient at all but I like this is a potential like city center area cuz we can do we can do some cool stuff in there at some point we can absolutely do some cool stuff in there I'm also thinking that I could maybe do something quite neat here so if I was to go say ten and ten and just get that to line up I can go in like this or not quite like that let's try and get this to go where I want it to go what you think is – there so what I can do now that that looks like a mess and that's fine cuz it's actually just gonna be it's just gonna be that road so we're not we're not keeping that entire mess there we're just keeping this one road off of there I'm wondering if I can do the same here so if I do that I want to go let's say that's 400 that's 400 so down to there so that's 400 we want to line those up and we want to go and do exactly the same thing and what we've got is these two roads here which should be absolutely parallel they aren't which is a bit awkward but that's okay I suppose yikes that is uh that's rough can I get those to work in in parallel here apparently not interesting well that's that sucks was kind of hoping I could get those to work in parallel but evidently not yeah oh dear okay that well I mean they're they're still parallel that's all right they just don't really line up all that well but that's fine so this is gonna be our City sensor that's something we can come back to in a little bit for the meantime we need some residential zoning we need some industrial zoning we're gonna need some commercial zoning so what I think I'm gonna do is I'm gonna come in here and I'm gonna see if I can get away with doing some roads sort of straight through here something about like this something coming down a bit like this as well is that line up I don't actually think that is exactly where I want it to be so let's go like that let's go like that let's go there and let's go there and we'll bring these done see we're actually even some gaps in here where we can do some paths or something like that which would be quite neat to do we can bring this straight through the middle I'm actually not gonna do that though because what I'm gonna do instead is leave that area open for something like a City Hall or whatever we can get in there really but just something that looked good in the middle of the city so we'll go to there and we'll go to right there as well all right so that we're excited we can get a nice City Hall and some parks and all that stuff in to that space but for the time being what I want to do is throw a bunch of commercial zoning into into all of these spaces so into all of that bunch of commercial that will that'll work out I'm gonna get rid of those roads as well because they're a little bit pointless safer honest but a bunch of commercial in there seems perfectly fine by me I'm thinking maybe done here we could do some residential or here actually or off of this road or something like that I think it might do residential sort of around here so let's give that a shot let's see what we can do with a bit of a bit of residential zoning and I think what we'll do is actually use some Avenue for this so we'll sort of have the we'll have the avenue go there and I wonder if I could actually oh I have an idea here what if we were to do this sort of thing and we were to do this sort of thing and have that you know connect up all nice like obviously it's gonna be a little bit of a nightmare in terms of in terms of traffic getting around there but I'm kind of thinking that this could kind of work out because it means that all of the all the houses can get can kind of be back off this road right so we'll do we'll do this and we'll do this and again looks like a total mess but what I'm gonna do is bring all of our little residential bits all for this road which i think will be really cool I'm also thinking well bulldoze these and we'll go let's see here so up like that straight across and bok-dong up like that straight across and bok-dong and then hopefully when you actually no I don't think we can get roads in there all right let's do it one more time we'll go one two three straight across bok-dong we'll go one two three straight across Mike done and I think I can get roads underneath that which will be perfect so this is gonna go see you bye there it's gonna go straight under and straight up there we go so that looks to run really nicely this can go to about there and loop around and that's gonna give us a pretty good area for residential zoning I think it's probably gonna be a little bit of a nightmare in terms of actually getting you know traffic move around here but I I'm kind of looking forward to this so let's just do some plain old roads and I'm gonna just sort of have these go back and forth and do different things and I just I want it to look like a bit of a weird suburb really that's that's kind of what we're going for here a bit of a strange-looking suburb will turn off road guidelines just make sure it's uh as strange as it can be so that's gonna go into there we could probably do with another little road going well this one can continue to there this can go I guess across here and that's as good as that one's gonna get this over here could start up by there I think we'll go here though and we'll go you know I should probably do some I should we do some like angled bits here hello I guess all of this will be angled so that's fine let's have you go there and straight up we'll have you slink back across and we'll have you sort of come out this way and we'll be down a little bit this one can go up a little bit this could maybe go over a little bit we'll bring one off of here too let's have this one almost line up perfectly with what we've got though because I really want to get the I want to get a lot of residential in here even though it is supposed to be quite a suburban looking area I still want it to be densely packed just as much as possible so bring you over there and I guess bring you over to there doesn't really hurt that's just a straight road there as well don't know if I like that not really sure I like that just being a plain old straight road so we'll change that up a little bit bring you over bring you straight into there and something about like that I think just looks a bit different looks kind of interesting then we have this weird area in the middle that we can have some fun with so bring this out and we can turn on guidelines and actually just have this we can have this just sort of curve over even though we're trying to separate these areas as best we can I think having them still connected is it's probably for the best just so that's so the traffic can navigate kind of nicely even if it is actually just that one road because then we can do some parks in here and have some fun with that so let's see off of here I want to come down to at that point over here we can go up like this and let's turn off for guidelines and go to about there and we'll go to about there as well so that looks ok for a bit of a bit of a clunky suburb I kinda want to bring some roads aren't ironic this though just so it's a little more a little bit less you know it defined where it ends there that looks all right though that'll be perfect presenting on that side this side is gonna be kind of similar I'm gonna start up here though so some of these houses end up having roads that lead down to the water does I think that'll be nice I think living but living where the water would be I'd love to do that if you've been if you've been following the channel for a while you remember you might remember I was talking about a a house I was gonna be renting that house was actually quite close to the beach it was like what would it have been it would have been honestly about a minute walk to the beach from that house I never wind up renting it though because the Landlord wound up being a Wow there's a lot of things I could call that landlord I'm not gonna do it because I'm a beautiful human being there's a lot of things I could call that landlord there's a there's a lot a long list of things I would very much like to call that landlord right now and I'm just not going to because I'm delightful obviously that's that's obviously the best description of me absolutely delightful you can tell from the evil laugh that I'm delightful anyway let's uh let's continue on this nonsense right here this is actually coming together kind of well I think this area is gonna look really good when it's when it's populated because we got some room for a park in there too in a park in there and we got plenty of room for more roads over here too and I just I think it's gonna look really really great having all this in here even if it is and again this is the thing right so obviously we started with all of this money and obviously that does remove a little bit of the challenge but like I said at the start we've done thirteen other series on city skylines I kind of I've kind of been inspired by the prison architect let's play we're doing right now because we don't really have to worry about money too much in that series because we have a way of getting money really really easily if you want to find out what that is by the way I can highly recommend my prisoner market a client's book that's that's a weird sentence I I don't feel comfortable promoting me Prison architect series like that but nonetheless if you want to watch it it is on the channel just FYI it does exist anyway I think this right here is gonna be is gonna be perfect for for residential zoning probably gonna be a traffic nightmare but I kind of dig it I do kind of dig it I'm also wondering actually could I get away with doing something a little cheeky here could I get away with uh with this sort of thing like I I guess I guess in a way that works right so it's a way for traffic to go straight into the residential zone that's kind of cool to me it does make me think that this road here should probably be an Avenue though because that is that is gonna be all sorts of crazy right there but I like that I think that's gonna be really good for residential so um yeah let's zoom the whole thing job done except for obviously the bits that are on the highway we we kind of don't want those to be zoned because that would be a little bit nuts just uh just a little bit too much I think this will be even better by the way when those main roads in the middle are highways with Sun barriers and the roads are on the sides are roads with trees this will get a lot better now this area up here I think what we'll do is we'll fill up the middle with commercial I'm gonna fill up the gonna fill up all the sides too I think because I can and those bits – so that's all gonna be commercial that's all gonna be residential obviously this is gonna take a long time to fill up but that's okay I'm not so worried about that because this is all gonna be long-term planning now out here I kind of want to do some industry I kind of want to plan some industry so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna use dirt roads for this and we're probably gonna need some kind of grind about here actually so maybe we should change this out a little bit maybe we should I'm not really I mean we do we do have a roundabout but I don't know we'll come back to that well figure out how that works in a little bit cuz right now we need to do some industrial planning now what I want to do well I actually don't know if I want to do industry right on the beach by the by the train track could be an idea though so like over here instead yeah let's let's do some industry by by the train track so we'll go here and we'll do let's turn off these guidelines let's do a let's maybe have a main road coming down here maybe we will do this Rhonda might thing so we'll take all of this site all the way back to here and I need to find where the intersection is for these roads so do that do that do that and do that so that's the intersection point so what we want to do is go ten we want to go ten we want to go ten and we want to go ten so that is that is a run by right there that is gonna be that is gonna be a big roundabout so we'll do we'll do six lanes not that we need them not that we're ever gonna need them but we're gonna do six lanes because I can and mostly because we don't have highways yet so we're gonna have we're gonna have to use the the six Lane Avenue instead of highways look we're just gonna have to make do with what we have alright that's that's where we're at right now we're just gonna make do with what we have so let's see here let's uh this is so janky this is so janky right now I love it this is this is fun though like I know that this is her so slightly silly will say silly but I'm actually really enjoying this like this this is a sign of city skylines that I I don't I don't usually get to plan my my Let's Plays I don't usually get to do this I'm quite I'm quite enjoying it so I kind of want to downsize this Rhonda by it's a bit big but whatever this is gonna be our industrial area we actually have some some hills up here we can put mining stuff on but let's say off of the Rhonda but we go over the train tracks which is gonna be its own nightmare and we're gonna go see about there we'll have this come in and and curve and we're gonna go straight through I know I said I'd do this with dirt roads but I'm just not gonna bother doing that I don't think there's a point we'll have this coming and I think honestly the industrial area could maybe just do with being a grid for a while I don't think there's anything to be gained from having the industrial area be you know anything overly complex cuz it's gonna change at some point anyway it's it's not gonna be you know it's it's not gonna be staying as just a basic and dust area so it absolutely will change I actually think what I'm gonna do is have this be a one-way road going around it and actually I kind of like the idea of maybe having a sort of two industrial areas well not quite like that but two industrial areas sort of side-by-side almost so something kind of kind of like this right so they'll both they'll not actually connect though so you have to go back out onto the onto the Avenue to get on to get into the other one I kind of like why is it doing that I kind of like that though and maybe you know this comes odd and connects there so you can you can connect there but you know you have these these two squares that do their thing I kind of like that I do kind of like that I think these tend to go out a little bit less though just to have there be a bit of symmetry there and I think that's quite cool so that will do for industry let's just fill all of that up every little bit of it there and I think that's all I'm gonna fill up on that because we are going to need powers so let's let's say power plant power plant they'll be sort of back-to-back like that in terms of water we're gonna need a lot of it so what all different water is say that it can go it can be brought up from like over here I think so a bit of water from there and we'll throw this we'll throw a few of these in just so we don't have to worry about them in the future so we've got three of the water pumps there we'll have sewage outlet B oh I don't really know if I want it to be on the beach but up there is not much better I guess up here way out of the way so sewage output is super super far away like seriously seriously far away eighteen thousand dollars for that pipe right there that's how far away we're talking and sewage output but that keeps it way out of the way which is kind of what we won so let's see what we're doing for pipes then cuz this is gonna be the tricky part especially in that residential area that's gonna be that's gonna be its own nightmare to deal with but we'll do this sort of thing we'll bring a pipe through there and a pipe through there we'll have I think this can sort of you know go around low but and I think that covers everything I wanted to cover it absolutely does okay let's do this area before we do the residential one because again residential area is just gonna be its own nightmare so around all of this over there and across and across there that one was actually quite easy and now for this nonsense so I think I'm gonna try and get this to go as as parallel as I can get it really so down to there we'll have it go straight across there but there and that that gives us a good square to start with so I'll go a little bit further and that'll give us coverage all up here we'll go a little further on this side giving us all of that coverage I don't think we need to go further on that side but we do need to go further here and we're actually gonna need to go even further on that side so let's go to there and then just the middle part is all that needs covered here so back and forth the whole way across here just like so and that'll give us water coverage for all of that residential area except for that one little strip there but that I think will be okay I think we can manage with that I'm not too worried about it let's just get this all connected together let's get the the water connected to the industry these guys are obviously gonna need power so wind turbine and then power connections for all of this that's gonna be its own set of problems as well huh I don't really think about that I've done all this building and I didn't really think about parapara like power at all actually that's gonna be fun that's gonna be really fun I'll tell you what I'm gonna do I've got some more power plants in here just so I can connect here really easily and I think we're gonna have to go something like this so pretty much straight up I can have it sort of jump across like this and I think having it go through the middle of all this is probably gonna be the easiest way to get power through here so let's turn off these Road guidelines let's have it snap with the grid and just I guess we just go back and forth on all of this and see what we can do so there we go that'll curve around there really really nicely this can go all the way up to here and all the way I guess in to there and I reckon I can get some nice curves going here too so just the whole way around all of this there we go all right that seems perfect we should see some development fairly soon I'm I'm a little nervous I'm gonna be honest but I'm also kind of keen I I want to see what happens here I absolutely want to see what happens here there we go residential development happening right away they are not gonna have much of a connection though so I think what we need to do is that and that will give them power they'll already have water we should see some commercial pop up eventually and industry will happen in time as well obviously spending a lot of money right not but I think I can make that work I reckon we'll be okay just just you just you watch just you have faith just have faith because I don't really really awkward I did say we'd spend most of that money though that is that is something that said and I stuck to it we're already a little hamlet so we can immediately go in and say that we want to go to attacks isn't say 12% for for all of those so immediately we'll make some good money there I actually really want to see how traffic goes here so we have some traffic coming out of here which is fine we have some traffic actually leaving but we should see a bunch of traffic coming in here soon enough that actually does go into the city we should see it there's the first bits of traffic right there I kind of want to see what it looks like for residential traffic because that's that's industrial traffic right there I also really want to turn off the want to start off the traffic lights just have all of those turned off and let's just put stop signs for everyone going onto the rhine divide so there we go we have the van going into the city and he's going straight through towards the commercial area which is totally fine by me oh wow oh wow okay let's let's turn off the let's turn off those stop signs let's just have the traffic flow there we go alright so away it goes a bunch of it heading towards the residential zone that's perfect that's what we want to see we want to see people moving in and monetarily speaking right she's not doing too bad I mean – three and a half thousand is to be expected there's a lot of roads in here but I mean that's fixable I mean if I just say turn that off we're gonna save how much is this I mean it's five hundred and sixty per week we can turn they turn two of those off really if we want to save a thousand dollars I'm gonna turn the back on later in fact we've returned three of them off and save even more money immediately a worthy village don't mind if I do we've got districts we've got policies you get loans we've got police departments and emergency services and all sorts of things which is beautiful absolutely beautiful there's a lot more to go though a lot more to go and a lot more money needing made before before hon could be remotely comfortable right here before I am gonna be a remotely comfortable I'll tell you what I will do though I will go ahead and throw a little medical center in here I think right there for a medical center I think maybe a little bit of a fire department down in the industrial area and we could probably do with one in there as well but will not bother just yes I think a police department up in the commercial area could be an idea and some education would be lovely as well but that's gonna have to wait that is that is not happening for a while education is just a whole not not a thing I'm gonna go near not a thing I'm remotely interested in at the minute and with 1,100 people we become a tiny town now this this right here is very important for City skylines industries we have industrial areas right here now what we can do with these is we can expand upon the industry that you've seen before obviously this game has had industrial specializations in the past this is different this is this is very very different because we can now paint an industry area and what we do with industry areas is very very interesting very very interesting so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna paint actually you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna lay out some roads first I think that seems like it might be a better idea get a lay out some roads first before I paint in anything at all because I think let's see would this be a good forestry area I don't know this this is a massive forest but I I'm trying to think what would be the best area for a dedicated forestry zone we could do some farmland we have some fertile land right here but I want to start with forestry I think I think right here I think this is gonna be our best bet so I'm gonna go in with with this right here which is a small industry road and it is it is a dedicated road for this kind of thing so actually you know what let's do the medium one medium industry Road gonna come in to about there should be totally fine and I'm gonna have it's gonna have it turn into a small industry road and we'll have it go this way too so we'll have I think yeah we'll have two of them sort of go like this and we'll have them go I don't know I kind of want them to I kind of want them to weave in and out of here but weaving in and I it doesn't really lend itself very well to what we do with the industry so I'll tell you what we'll do instead we'll have a few of them we'll have them go like this we'll have just that as a really simple thing because what I'll do is I'll show you how the industry works and then I'll make a good-looking one a little bit later down the line so we need an industry area let's get ourselves an industry area we'll have it stick to the roads because sticking to the roads is the best way to do this really it is a little bit tricky though when you can't see the roads but whatever and then don't you there and that's gonna be myrtle industrial park it's gonna be renamed though because it's it's City skylines industries it needs to be Park Park Park Park industrial park there we go I've heard nothing but references to Park Park industrial parks since this DLC was announced I will I will never hear the end of it if I don't name something Park Park industrial park so there you go anyway what we can do next is actually go to here and get ourselves a forestry main building so I'm gonna grab that I'm gonna throw it right about there which unlocks the sawmill a small tree plantation and a small log yard now what I can do is I can take a look at this and see it has 0 of 40 workers and it actually needs some highly educated jobs well-educated educated uneducated needs a good mix so we're gonna need to get education going kind of soon but this main bill sets an unassigned industry areas type to forest industry and works as the industry areas headquarter for city service vehicles so basically this building turns Park Park Industrial Park into Park Park forestry Park or not it would be forestry I'm gonna change the park part forestry Park so there you go Park Park forestry Park what we can now do is say that we are gonna turn logs into profit we can just get them and sell them if we want to see and do that we actually need to go in here and get ourselves a small tree plantation so we're gonna do that we'll get a small tree plantation right there and right there and we can actually change these red chains of the conifers so that they kind of match and those are all gonna have trucks that will go ahead and in time export things basically that's that's kind of the way it works we are gonna we're gonna export things eventually we're gonna export some some logs we can turn those logs into planed timber if we want to as well that is absolutely an option – I'm not gonna do that because I don't think we need to do that at least not yet but that is that is an option that is an option that we have now this guy right here for example is exporting forestry products meaning he's gonna be leaving the city and will be making a little air money off of the off of the logs unfortunately getting workers Flis gonna be a bit of a pain because obviously we don't have any education we also don't have garbage disposal which is kind of awkward so let's get ourselves a bit of that going we'll get a recycling center or two and that will hopefully help things out a little bit we are still losing a lot of money actually which has been nervous cuz we're at forty two thousand dollars but I'm I'm quietly confident that I can make this work it might just be a case of giving it a lot of time
