Administration Console: Exports and Updates


Administrators with sufficient
permissions can export archived messages, for example, if they need to rebuild the
user’s mailbox, retrieve messages for a topic or
store a backup on local storage media. Up to five concurrent exports can be active at once. Active exports in eDiscovery cases also count
towards the total number of exports. Before messages can be exported a
Saved Archived Search is required. Messages are exported in
batches of 10 gigabytes. Each batch consists of download
files 2 gigabytes in size. For example, an export with a total size of 8 gigabytes would be split into four 2 gigabyte files. When an export is complete and ready to download an email notification is issued to
the administrator who requested it. Exported files must be downloaded within 14 days – after this time the exports are
automatically marked as completed and are unavailable for download. To start an export navigate
through to Archive / Saved Searches. Select Saved Search, complete Export
Properties and click Export. You can monitor the progress of your export in the Archive / Exports and Updates
under Export Properties. To download the export, select it from
the Export Queue and click Download. You can also cancel an export if its
status is still ‘pending’ or ‘in progress’. You can do that by simply clicking
‘Cancel Export’ button. For more information and step-by-step
